A temperate water give is provided. The temperate water give system includes a temperate water storage tank and a alter exchanger. The temperate water storage tank has a first store inlet a first store outlet a back up tank inlet and a back up store outlet. The first store inlet is connectable to a cold water source. The first store outlet is connectable to at least one temperate water use point in the residence. The alter exchanger has a heat exchanger inlet and a heat exchanger outlet and a plurality of water conduits connected in agree fluid communication with the alter exchanger inlet and with the alter exchanger outlet. The alter exchanger inlet is connectable to the second store outlet and the alter exchanger outlet is connectable to the second tank inlet. In use the plurality of water conduits are filled with water and are in communicate with ambient air in the residence that is warmer than the water at least a portion of the measure so that alter is transferred from the ambient air to the water.
