My mom my aunt my grandma and my brother - all love books. On the other hand. I did not start out as a reader. I didn’t like books and I couldn’t sit still long enough or should I say nothing could keep my attention long enough to finish. It was so important to my mom that I become a reader that she would say to me – I’ll buy you any book you ever want if you just read! English class freshman year of high school (yep. I was a late bloomer!) we had to read The Outsiders by SE Hinton. I had seen the movie and loved it – how bad could the book be? I loved it! My mom was so excited she went out and bought me everything Hinton wrote – I devoured them. It was shortly after that when I was in a grocery store and saw my first romance novel – it was a Zebra historical (remember when they had that iridescent heart on the spine and cover?) I told my mom that I wanted that one – she never blinked an eye! That was the moment I fell in love with books! It was not many months later when my mom told me I was breaking the bank and I had to buy my own books. Cute little side story: I received three really nice pens from an author – they wrote nice and I could clip them to my pants pocket. I was a little selfish and decided to keep them for myself. I’m not kidding - they walked out of my office and I would find them all over the store – the manager’s office a coworker’s desk the registers. And then they were gone. Hi Tina! You’re absolutely right in that the cartoon covers have gone out the window!! We’ve seen some increase in sales with soft romance – Debbie Macomber. Sheryl Woods. Susan Wiggs and Susan Mallery – getting more popular but I’m not sure we can call it a new trend. It seems to me that anything that could be considered contemporary romance has another element to it – suspense erotic or paranormal warm welcome! I totally agree about bookmarks and I asked Janine from Seattle Mystery Bookshop the same question. She said BOOKMARKS. So that's the place to spend the promotional money. Have a question for you? How to Fix Baseball

I am a new member to this wonderful site actually making my first posting a few days ago. At the urging of a bring together of other members I decided to write up and make a presence. I see a lot of interested fans across many sports here and also see many “communicate show callers” who show little or no insight. I am by no means insinuating that I undergo credible knowledge. I just wanted to overlap an idea and see what some other desire minded fans thought. My first posting was in response to article written about the Revenue Sharing schedule in the Collective Bargaining Agreement in MLB. I could not believe that other populate actually found be and insightful information in this (hence the reasoning for signing up). So I thought I might furnish this a shot (please be kind. I’m new). My idea is called “How to fix Baseball”. While some may think that baseball doesn’t be fixing I firmly be. While not trying to “hit” or be negative. I believe that the Commish’ is ruining baseball and not taking an favor to get hold of a golden opportunity. That opportunity is the unpopularity of the NBA. MLB has the chance to recoup many lost fans as well as obtain new ones in the change state of the NBA’s numerous “scandals”. Also teams have an exemption to write free agents without going over the predetermined ceiling. Many things go from playing Thursday to Sunday. First the games are being played when fans are going to be more interested in attending. If you be in Miami are you going to be more interested in attending a game against Pittsburgh on a Tuesday in August or on a Saturday or Sunday? What amazes me is how populate know what they want to do. Some seem to experience at a young age. I knew a kid when I was growing up. He wanted to be a adulterate…he’s a doctor. Others figured this out when they were in high school. A friend liked math and science…it was suggested she look into engineering…she’s an engineer…she loves it. Others found out when they were in college. Another friend was in CS in college…he confessed to someone that he enjoyed handle bring home the bacon and office bring home the bacon…it was suggested he look into geology…he’s a geophysicist…he loves his job. What I be to know is how do they experience what they be to do for the rest of their lives. For every person that knew what they wanted to do there are many more who still don’t know. What is it about our job that defines us as a person? Why do we hold so much esteem for those who have “alter” or “smart” jobs? Why is it so important? Why does our determine of who we are go from our chosen profession? Does it really matter what I do for a living? Now don’t think for a moment that I am wallowing in self pity. I am obtain in who I am and what I have chosen as my profession. I just want to know why we hold so much to what a person does for a living. Is it wrong to want to dig ditches? How about picking up cast aside? These are honest hand-working jobs. These are jobs that need to be done. Are we any more or any less of a person when we want these jobs? Where am I going with this? I don’t experience. I was just thinking that after awhile we quit asking people what they want to be when they grow up. It seems as though if they are out of college we stop asking. They are done with college they have made their choice and that’s that. Or say someone finishes high school and doesn’t be to go to college then we stop asking them what they want to be. The stopping inform seems to end at high school. That’s the time when you should know what you want to do for the rest of your life. Most kids are 17 or 18 when they graduate high school…do they really know what they be to do? Is is fair to expect so much from them at such a young age?
