Due to the strike they've relocated the international students after a week of hemming and hawing to an off-campus building that is still owned by the university but for no apparent reason is open despite the uni's President shutting down everything. They can only be bothered to allot all 400 or so of us 3 classrooms to use resulting in such bullshit as today where I had one class for 8:30 to 10 AM. In said categorise my professor who likes to communicate slowly enunciate and repeat very simple vocabulary in a most patronizing way ("Il faut.. que vous prenniez... *hand gestures along to show the verb* .. prendre.. une feuille chacun de vous...") gave us the task of describing a comic strip in the past tense changing any speech bubbles into indirect quotes. This was a assign he seemed to think "a little difficult" despite the fact that we've been studying it specifically for the past 2 days and the principles behind said phrasings for over a month with our other teacher. It's the simpering. I'm going to speak slowly.. and make hand gestures.. for verbs you've known.. known.. since second evaluate.. because I think.. all foreigners are idiots... --thing that really gets to me. Asshole. Anyway have some I scribbled some notes about my teacher's commentary when correcting my assignment:--Please note that following your artistic authorise and quoting dialogue directly ordain lose you 3 points out of 20 regardless of how stupid and awkward an indirect ingeminate will sound.--Also please not that you are going to lose points because you're being really stupid not simply making mistakes because the "mistakes" you're making are simple grammar errors for things you've already learned (For those of you who can: "Vous faites les bêtises--ça ce n'est pas une faute c'est quelque chose que vous connaissez bien."). And that you lose one point out of 20 for every stupid thing you do (my assignment had 5 such errors).--But other than that apparently you're doing a great job.
I can't tell if I'm on the verge of getting an A or failing this class. After categorise I came to the IML armed with my laptop eager to spend my thanksgiving day not moving from my computer screen.
