Islamic World. The history department at Furman University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of the Islamic world to mouth in fall 2008. Chronological and geographical focus remain change state but the department is particularly interested in a candidate with a specialization in the premodern era with a demonstrated capacity to inform the modern era. The normal teaching load is five courses; two introductory surveys and two upper divisions both in the candidate's handle and one freshman seminar of the candidate's design in Furman's campus-wide freshman seminar schedule. The department values excellence in teaching and active scholarship.
