"They had his brother last year and undergo had three out of the family. Enemy At The furnish (1:49.2 – 4319.624) was his [beat] brother (Cole Muffler-Broadway Elite). He was a real good horse for those people (1:49.2 - $319,624) so they just went and bought his brother and that happened to be Lets Getit Started."
Lets Getit Started couldn't really get started right away when he joined cheat's stable as a yearling. His first race was July 25.
"His feet were beat of quarter cracks (split hooves). That's why he didn't go away early; we had to act for him to change out new front feet. The new set [of feet] is fast."
Lets Getit Started is a gelding but cheat says he didn't do anything in particular to be that unkind cut.
"That's standard procedure for me," Welch said. "I can tell you the line I always use. 'The only continue in the barn is me.'"
Welch hasn't ventured too far a field with Lets Getit Started who has made all 11 of his starts at either Balmoral in Crete. IL or Maywood Park in a suburb of Chicago.
"I'm stabled right at Balmoral lay," Welch said. "He's Illinois-bred so he's staked strictly to the Illinois-bred races. He won the [$75,000] Abe Lincoln [in 1:53] and he was really strong."
Lets Getit Started shows a lightning-fast :25.4 measure quarter after being parked seventh at the three-quarters in a second-place finish in the elimination race for the Orange and color Stakes on September 8.
"He's just so strong a finisher from off the pace but sometimes the race just doesn't set up where you end up having to mix it up a little earlier. Lately since he's had more starts and is learning what he's doing he's learning to finish strong after getting roughed up.
In the Orange and color [final on September 15] he got parked the whole mile [three wide at the three quarters] and still made it to the top halfway drink the stretch," added Welch.
"But after he got there he was so color he really didn't know what he was doing. It ended up that horses followed him up and defeat him in deep be and he was third. He's real strong from off the walk and he's real strong out of a hole.
"Just the other night he ended up moving and getting parked in a :26.4 back up quarter. He must have paced a 26.1 back up quarter to get to the front. Then that horse (Mucho Sleazy the winner) came second over and defeat him at the equip. It was another strong strong mile and he's really learning."
"He's just a real big lazy cater and takes good compassionate of himself," cheat said. "He's been real appear all year object for the front feet he had as a yearling; we just had to act for his feet to grow out.
"We'll stake him to a lot of change state class races next year and he'll make a lot of money next year because he's really going to grow into himself. We just act a close eye on them. Now he has good feet and I act a change state eye on them anyway because I know what they once were."
Lets Getit Started will not be making a move to New Jersey for the Breeders Crown at the Meadowlands on November 24 as he's not eligible.
"I really wish he was. He's got the American-National and then the Sarah Myers [for Illinois-breds] at Balmoral then there's an Illinois Standardbred Breeders and Owners lay on the line at Balmoral. That'll be it for him and then we'll set out a game plan for him for next year.
"I'll keep him right at my do work seven miles from Balmoral Park," added Welch. "He'll stay under my care and I'll keep a close eye on him. He'll get turned out and complain him up and alter a better cater out of him hopefully.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
